Fight On: A Visual Interpretation of African American Spirituals by artist and author Aaron F. Henderson brings together art, music and cultural reflection in a coffee-table book.
The book pairs 62 paintings from Henderson’s series with the lyrics of 56 spirituals and narrative writings by Henderson and scholars of art and culture. Together, these works celebrate African American culture and examine survival, liberation and resilience in a nation built in part on Black people’s unpaid labor.
